Here is an Exercise of a different kind.
The main goals of this website is to inspire critical thinking, creativity and problem solving.
Here is a little problem to solve.
A retail merchant has two stores selling handbags; the handbags are of similar designs and price.
All sales are recorded in a duplicate receipt book using carbon paper to produce the duplicate receipt for the store records.
A customer approached the owner of the store accusing the store salesman of being a thief.
An audit of the sales did not reveal any theft, the stock was correct and the prices on the receipts were correct.
After A closer inspection, the owner discovered that the salesman was stealing and dismissed the salesman.
Can you explain how the salesman was stealing and managed to cover it up?
He was stealing on the job.

Courtney,
Such a fun site! I love brain games but am not very good at them. But when I am given the answer, I usually feel pretty silly that I couldn’t come up with it on my own.
That being said, what’s the answer? How was the salesman stealing and how did he cover it up?
It sounds like you have had a very interesting and adventurous life. I love that your brain exercises are free.
Thanks,
Irvie

Okay okay, I’m no good at it but I’ll make a guess. Maybe the store salesman did write the receipt and did sell the product but only steal it later after the customer had checked out?
Do let us know the answer, I look forward to it. 😉
Cheers,
Anh

Am not very very good at puzzle, but I will try my best.. I think since they had two stores that sold the same type and design of bags.. I think the sales man was getting an inferior bag product else well and replacing it with the real ones in the store. Thereby getting more money for himself… Hope I tried?

Good try, now you are cooking, concentrate on the receipt book. But that was a brilliant possibility, but the customer ‘s complaint would have been different. You are a critical thinker, just a little shy.
